Meeting the President
Penn GSE was the first stop on President Liz Magill’s tour of schools at Penn, during which she engaged with students and learned firsthand about the School’s work and impact. This fall, President Magill also visited the Penn Alexander School and the Henry C. Lea School, two of Penn GSE’s whole-school partnerships in Philadelphia.
Partnerships Increase Impact
For the second year in a row, Penn GSE and the Office of School and Community Engagement partnered with the Netter Center for Community Partnerships to support summer learning in West Philadelphia. The 2022 program offered academic and mental health support to 267 students in first through eighth grades, a 20 percent increase from the 2021 program, and provided professional development to twenty-four teachers and counselors at two sites.
Coming Soon
Made possible by the Extraordinary Impact Campaign, Penn GSE’s historic building expansion project is underway and on schedule. The School’s footprint will expand to include new classrooms, student and collaboration spaces, and a new home for Catalyst @ Penn GSE. Construction will continue through the spring and summer, with anticipated occupancy in the fall of 2023.
Starting Line
Penn GSE’s Office of Student Success, formerly the Office of Student Services, welcomed a new class this fall during the first on-campus orientation since the fall of 2019. The most diverse student population in the School’s history, the 2022 incoming class includes 773 master’s students, twenty-two PhD students, and sixty-four EdD students.
