Professional Biography
Dee Asaah is an education entrepreneur, writer, researcher, and filmmaker. As Founder and CEO of The Asaah Group, LLC, a corporate training and multimedia publishing company, Dee instructs entrepreneurs around the world how to design, package, market, and teach professional courses. He is also the co-founder and executive director of the Nawee Afrika Education Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit that supports African children, youth, and their families in Africa and the United States with educational programs and resources.
Dee’s interdisciplinary research interests straddle the fields of literacy and international educational development, education entrepreneurship, filmmaking, and neuroscience. For his doctoral dissertation, he partnered with a Philadelphia-based nonprofit to design and operationalize an online tutoring program during the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic. The program paired tutors with middle and high school students across the U.S. In addition to focusing his research on how people conceptualize, define, and actualize success, he has studied Jack Canfield’s Train The Trainer program on “The Success Principles”. Dee is currently completing the first two in a series of picture activity books for children and youth called ColorFull Whimsical Tales™. The interactive literary works published by The Asaah Group combine his multidisciplinary interests in edupreneurship, multimodality, multiliteracies, neuroscience, and conceptualizations of success.
In the Education Entrepreneurship program at Penn GSE, Dr. Asaah co-teaches “Foundations of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum: Curriculum, Equity, and Participatory Inquiry” with Dr. Gerald Campano. The course combines Dr. Asaah’s current academic and professional interests with his decade-long experience in the corporate world, spanning work as business manager and corporate trainer for the U.S. Department of Defense Army & Air Force Exchange Service and U.S. Army Morale Welfare Recreation and as operations manager at the Decurion Corporation’s ArcLight Cinemas Hollywood.
