Professional Biography
Since graduating from Penn GSE with my Ph.D. in Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education and an M.S.Ed in Education Policy, I have been thrilled to stay connected as an affiliated faculty member. I currently teach in the Mid-Career Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership and the M.S.Ed in Education Entrepreneurship. In MCDPEL, I am instructor for the Inquiry Community course to support doctoral candidates in their dissertation research. In Education Entrepreneurship, I co-teach the course Schools as Organizations.
My research focuses on institutional change efforts in education; discourse communities in policy and organizations; and the creation and use of research evidence by educational practitioners. As an Associate Researcher with the Center on Assets, Education, and Inclusion at the University of Michigan, I am currently collaborating on several projects related to social policies, such as Child Development Accounts and Guaranteed Income as they intersect with parents’ future educational aspirations and expectations for their children.
As Assistant Professor of Education in the EdD program in Education Leadership at Neumann University, I teach courses on research design and serve as qualitative methodologist on doctoral dissertations. I also serve as the Co-Chair of the Institutional Review Board and Editorial Board Chair for the Catalyst: Journal of Student Academic Research.
