Professional Biography
Michael R. Roberts is the William H. Lawrence Professor of Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Professor Roberts earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of California at San Diego, and his M.A. in Statistics and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.
Dr. Roberts’ primary areas of research are corporate finance and banking. He investigates the determination of corporate capital structure and payout policy, and their impact on corporate investment and equity returns. He also studies the pricing, design, and renegotiation of debt securities. More recently, Dr. Roberts has begun investigating the impact of government policies on corporate behavior.
