Professional Biography
Elizabeth Ellen Simison teaches in the Teaching and Learning Strand in the Independent School Teaching Residency Program at Penn GSE, with a focus on the feedback & assessment module. Her partner institution where she works full time is Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, CT. One of the many meaningful experiences for Elizabeth has been to support the evolution of curricula that are both diverse and inclusive so that all students can see themselves and have a voice in the texts and assessments with which they engage.
Currently a candidate for a doctorate in educational leadership, Elizabeth researches mastery-based learning and its implications for educational policy and practice; in her current role, she supports an assessment framework for Porter’s students that is both equitable and transparent and works with Fellows at Penn GSE to create authentic assessments and criteria for students in their own classrooms.
