Professional Biography
Hoopes Wampler currently serves as the Senior Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations at the University of Pennsylvania, directing programming designed to create lifelong relationships between Penn and its more than 300,000 living alumni around the world. Penn Alumni Relations seeks to deepen the engagement and connection of the Penn Alumni community by identifying and championing opportunities for collaboration in alumni relations programming among and between Penn's four undergraduate and twelve graduate schools.
Prior to coming to Penn, Mr. Wampler served as the Director of College Alumni Programs at the Harvard Alumni Association from 1999–2007. Before that, Hoopes served as the Director of Marketing for large out-of-home media firms in Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia and worked as a project manager for a start-up high tech consulting firm developing systems for the telecommunications industry.
Hoopes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Richmond (1991), a Master of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from the Harvard Graduate School of Education (1999), and a Doctorate in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania (2013). His doctoral dissertation entitled Bridges to a Lifelong Connection: A Study of Ivy Plus Young Alumni Programs Designed to Transition Recent Graduates into Engaged Alumni was defended and passed with distinction.
Hoopes, his wife and two children currently live in Center City Philadelphia.
