Alumni and Friends Meet Dean Grossman in China

October 23, 2015

Following up on the School’s June gathering at the recently launched Penn Wharton China Center, Dean Pam Grossman continued fostering ties with the Penn GSE and education communities in China at several September events held in Shanghai and Beijing. Alumni of GSE and Penn, prospective students, parents, and friends had the opportunity to meet Dean Grossman, make new connections, and learn GSE’s latest updates.

Known for her outstanding contributions to teacher education, Grossman gave a presentation for alumni at the JW Marriott Shanghai, explaining how education students can best develop expertise in teaching. “Alumni were receptive to the talk and eager to meet Dean Grossman throughout the event,” says Bonnie He, a Penn GSE master’s student in intercultural communication and higher education who helped organize the events.

Grossman also met with Loretta Evans, GEX’95, president of the Penn Club of Beijing, as well as representatives of various educational institutions and organizations, including Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University, ZMN Education, LearnLab, and Quakers Education, a start-up founded by Penn GSE alumni.

“We were pleased to see alumni and friends in China so engaged with Penn GSE,” says Jane Lindahl, who manages the School’s alumni relations.

Connections made at the events can continue and grow through Penn GSE’s public platform and alumni group on WeChat, a popular social media service in China.
