NEW YORK & PHILADELPHIA—StartEd, Inc, a public-benefit corporation, and Catalyst @ Penn GSE, a global center for innovation at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE), have announced EDTECH WEEK 2023 to be held October 2–5 in New York City.
For the first time, the Milken-Penn GSE Education Business Plan Competition (EBPC) Finals will take place live and on-stage as a keystone event of EDTECH WEEK 2023 on October 4 at the Times Center in New York City.
Considered the most prestigious and well-funded competition of its kind, the EBPC has awarded more than $1.8 million in cash and prizes since 2010 to outstanding ventures making advances in literacy, college access, social–emotional learning, and more. New this year, finalists will be matched with a dedicated, strategic advisor to develop their venture and perfect their pitch before the final competition.
“We’re thrilled not only that the 2023 Milken-Penn GSE Education Business Plan Competition is returning to a live, in-person format for the first time since 2019, but also to join EDTECH WEEK 2023—two inspiring events presented together in New York City,” says Catalyst @ Penn GSE Executive Director Michael Golden. “Through our partnership, Milken-Penn GSE finalists will compete on the world stage, gaining more exposure among industry experts, potential investors, and peers than ever before.”
EDTECH WEEK 2023 will convene international leaders in education innovation to advance equitable teaching and learning worldwide through technology and entrepreneurship. New York City provides a vibrant global meeting point for change-makers to make new connections with peers and customers, raise capital, and experience rich culture—making EDTECH WEEK 2023 a must-attend event for the education and workforce innovation community.
“EDTECH WEEK gathers an army of highly skilled, highly motivated entrepreneurs, CEOs, venture capitalists, foundations, educators…and even Broadway entertainers…with a global mindset, in the national center of education innovation,” said Ash Kaluarachchi, CEO of StartEd. “We gather to learn and teach each other, kicking off the week with intimate peer groups surfacing the problems that the world needs solved to debating diverse stakeholders and experiencing efficacious solutions later on. This Fall, New York is where we’ll find StartEd’s community—the people, ideas, and resources that improve the opportunities and outcomes in the global education and workforce industry.”
Since 2015, EDTECH WEEK has drawn thousands of technology innovators, early-stage investors, entrepreneurs, trainers, content creators, policymakers, media representatives, researchers, and educators to foster new partnerships and exchange best practices for the tech-powered future of education.
In addition to the 2023 Milken-Penn GSE EBPC Finals, highlights of EDTECH WEEK 2023 include presentations and master classes on education and technology from K–12 to higher education, the future of work, and global education trends, as well as:
