Annual writing and literacy conference brings Philadelphia educators to Penn GSE

November 29, 2017

The Philadelphia Writing Project (PhilWP), Teachers Institute of Philadelphia, Mighty Writers and Penn GSE’s Reading/Writing/Literacy and Teacher Education Program have a long-standing dedication to improving literacy and learning in all content areas in classrooms and schools in Philadelphia.

This October, the collaborating organizations convened for their annual one-day conference, Teacher Research and Knowledge: A Celebration of Writing and Literacy. The conference is held by and for Philadelphia educators, and features a variety of presentations from practitioners, focused primarily on teacher research, knowledge, and the relationship between theory and practice. It also offered an opportunity for educators in the district to connect and share experiences and practices in teaching writing and literacy.

PhilWP is a teacher network of over 700 teacher consultants who work in a variety of ways with teachers and other educators to explore literacy, writing, teaching, and learning in their classrooms and schools regardless of grade or discipline. Educators in Philadelphia established PhilWP in 1986. Read more about PhilWP.
