Learning Executives To Convene at Penn

Global learning executives from companies such as JetBlue, CIGNA, Pfizer, and Wipro will convene at an international summit to tackle some of the issues driving innovation in learning and leadership.

Executives from around the world, including Indonesia, Canada, India, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, and the United States, will meet on the Penn campus in February to engage in executive-level peer networking and collaboration. The Global Leadership Congress, hosted by Corporate University Xchange, will take place February 25-27, 2009.

According to Mike Barger, chief learning officer (CLO) and senior vice president of JetBlue Airways, "This is a must-attend session for me, a chance to network with peers from around the world; share JetBlue's challenges and best practices, and find out what's working for others."

Faculty from Penn GSE and the Wharton School of Business will interact with CLOs as part of the executive program. "The driving force behind this event will be our emphasis on helping executives connect real-world business practices with leading-edge academic theory to solve their current business challenges," says Doug Lynch, Penn vice dean and facilitator of the Global Leadership Congress.

Penn GSE Associate Dean Stanton Wortham, whose Bullish on Uncertainty: How Organizational Cultures Transform Participants was published recently, will share research on the impact of culture on employees.
