"Looking ahead, we must take the lessons we've learned as a community in 2020 with us into 2021. Let's stay focused on health, equality, and collective strength to create a better future."

“Looking over the past year, I am proud of being able to transition from in-person mental health care to virtual mental health services. Once it is safe to return to in-person visits, we will have a hybrid office, as we see benefits to telemental health,” says Jessica Pavelka, GED’14, licensed professional counselor at Jessica Pavelka Counseling, LLC and a graduate of our Counseling and Mental Health Services master’s program. “Telehealth has provided my clients with the ability to continue their services from the safety of their own home. Additionally, it has provided wider client accessibility because I can reach anyone in our state, not just our county. I am also grateful to have taken crucial steps  to decolonize therapy over the past year. I am committed to doing what I can to stop injustice and it's never-ending work. In addition, our practice offers pro bono counseling for essential workers to support them during our troubling times. I believe we must continue to prioritize public health, free access to testing, and increased testing and vaccination. Looking ahead, we must take the lessons we've learned as a community in 2020 with us into 2021. Let’s stay focused on health, equality, and collective strength to create a better future.”
