Mid-Career Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership Ed.D., 2016

Before Penn GSE: Senior Associate Director of Admissions/College Counseling at St. Andrew’s School while also starting Delaware College Scholars (DCS)

After Penn GSE: Transitioned from working at both St. Andrew’s and DCS to being full-time at the non-profit in order to grow the program to what it is today

I love our cohort model and the peers that grew to be near and dear friends. I appreciated the flexibility of our program to be able to work full-time, while simultaneously completing my degree, developing my nonprofit, and raising a young family.”

I knew what I wanted to accomplish and what I wanted with my nonprofit. I needed to increase my knowledge base and tool kit around addressing systemic issues. I needed to ensure that Delaware College Scholars remained rooted in an evidence-based approach and that we accurately reflected the needs of our scholars and families. My doctoral program equipped me with a firm research/inquiry-based perspective that helped me align my passions around educational access with the needs of my scholars and evidence that could be flipped into a narrative readily accepted and understood by wider stakeholders for financial support and/or partnerships. I love our cohort model and the peers that grew to be near and dear friends. I appreciated the flexibility of our program to be able to work full-time, while simultaneously completing my degree, developing my nonprofit, and raising a young family. The variety of instructors from all over Penn also added to the wealth of knowledge that I gained.
