I grew up in central Maine and spent my four years of undergraduate studies going to school in my hometown of Lewiston/Auburn.  I have spent my last seven years living in Boston working as an undergraduate admissions officer at a highly selective university and through my time working in admissions I've noticed a lack of policies surrounding non-traditional college students and access to great educations. I chose Penn GSE as it allowed me to marry my interests in Higher Education with Education Policy in a way that allows me to grow as a practitioner and policy maker at all different levels of schooling. I hope to use this blog to explore my transition from professional life to graduate school as well as share some of my favorite finds around Philly thus far!

The GSE is all about the cohort model for going through your year (or two or 3,4,5) and it helps to create a community of intellectuals and friends to surround yourself with while you work through your studies. To help facilitate bonding within the group, each department sponsors events for the cohort as well as assigns a general coordinator who finds fun things to do and rallies the troops...
