Professional Biography
Stephanie Levin is a senior researcher within the American Institutes of Research (AIR)’s Human Services division. An expert in educational leadership and school finance, Levin is dedicated to improving outcomes for K–12 students and educators. Dr. Levin has over 18 years of experience in mixed-methods research and project management focused on school leadership, educator learning, educational equity, school finance, and economic evaluation. Her current work includes directing a study evaluating the implementation and impact of educator professional learning opportunities and leading a cost study of social–emotional learning programs. Levin is a contributing author to Developing Expert Principals – Professional Learning That Matters, published in 2024. Prior to her work in education research, Levin was a consultant, program developer, and policy and budget analyst, addressing issues shaping the experiences of children and families in urban settings. Dr. Levin received a Ph.D. in Education Policy from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, an M.P.P. from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, and a B.S. in Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
