Penn GSE's Hub for Equity, Anti-Oppression, Research, and Development (HEARD) is sponsoring a virtual panel discussion on the education of Black girls and women, featuring moderator Dr. Charlotte Jacobs, and panelists Yanil De La Rosa-Walcott, Barrett Rosser, Dr. Twanna Jones Morrison, and Central High School senior Mikayla Jones. In this virtual panel discussion, we will discuss the challenges Black girls and women face in education and how we re-envision their learning experiences with love and joy at the center. We will hear from current students about the experiences that make them feel seen, heard, and validated and what educational factors make them feel invisible. We invite our audience to contribute and learn about the resources that are helpful for supporting this population and the collective action needed for improving the education of Black girls and women.
