Dr. Shannon R. Waite, Clinical Assistant Professor, Fordham University, will present an Educational Leadership Colloquium titled, "Disrupting Dysconsciousness: Confronting Anti-Blackness in Principal Preparation Programs."  Dr. Waite, Ed.D. joined the faculty at Fordham University as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership in the Graduate School of Education in September 2016. Her research interests include topics on diversity and culturally relevant leadership, as well as the intersections between hyper-segregation and the school-to-prison pipeline. Currently, she is a member of the NYC Men Teach Research Team, a group of five researchers working with the NYC Men Teach Program (NYCMT) whose work is designed to provide feedback and policy recommendations about the implementation of the program. In October 2018, Drs. Waite, Mentor, and Bristol published "Growing our own: Reflections on developing a pipeline for male teachers of color," in the inaugural issue of the Journal of the Center for Policy Analysis and Research (JCPAR). Prior to coming to Fordham, Dr. Waite worked in various positions in the NYC Department of Education (NYCDOE). She started in 2003 as an NYC Teaching Fellow and became a Social Studies Teacher, Lead Dean, Teacher Recruitment Manager, and Human Resources Director. She transitioned to Fordham from the role of Director of Principal Pipeline Recruitment for the NYC Department of Education in the Office of Leadership (OOL). In her last position, she focused on increasing the visibility of the programs and leadership opportunities offered by OOL as well as increasing the quality and broadening the diversity of the applicant pool.
