4:00 p.m.  – Partnering for Progress: The School District of Philadelphia and Penn GSE
Amidst a national teacher shortage, many K–12 students are learning in schools with too few qualified teachers. How can a place like Penn GSE help turn the tide? Philadelphia Superintendent Tony B. Watlington, Sr. joins Penn GSE Dean Katharine Strunk for a fireside chat to discuss why the national teacher shortage is an existential threat and the ways in which schools of education can partner with local districts to recruit, support, and retain educators so that all kids—in Philadelphia and across the US—can thrive in school and in the workforce.

5:15 p.m. – Reception with Penn GSE alumni and friends.

**This event is free and open to all students, alumni, faculty, staff, and partners of Penn and Penn GSE.  Advanced registration is required.
