The University of Pennsylvania Predoctoral Training Program in Interdisciplinary Research Methods for Field-based Research in Education, sponsored by the Institute for Education Sciences (IES), welcomes Dr. Marsha Silverberg to our weekly seminar series.
Designing and Managing Evaluations for Policy Decision-Making: Case Studies from the U.S. Department of Education
Presented by Dr. Marsha Silverberg, Economist, Evaluation Division, Institute of Education Sciences
What does it mean to be an evaluator at IES and to oversee studies that are "policy relevant?" In Designing and Managing Evaluations for Policy Decision Making: Case Studies from the U.S. Department of Education, Marsha will describe what makes being a federal funder different from other roles in the evaluation ecosystem. She will hone in on efforts to respond to and inform policy, providing examples of IES evaluation she conducted over her nearly 25 years of service to the agency.
