In this discussion moderated by Dr. Andrea M. Kane, Professor of Practice, Education Leadership at Penn GSE, Logan shares how to prepare for successful and effective leadership when the context is chaos—including socio-political strife, workforce challenges, and rapidly evolving instructional shifts.

 

Dr. Cheryl Logan Bio: 

Cheryl Logan has spent her career nurturing cross-sector relationships. Her innovative leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and commitment to providing opportunities for students to achieve their highest potential embody the essence of the McGraw Prize. As superintendent of Omaha Public Schools, for example, Logan led the district through a groundbreaking SARS-CoV-2 testing pilot study with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, enabling Omaha to be one of the first large, urban school districts in the nation to return to in-person learning in 2020.

 

Dr. Andrea Kane Bio: 

Andrea M. Kane is a Professor of Practice in Educational Leadership at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. Previously, she served as Superintendent of Schools for Queen Anne’s County Public Schools in Maryland. Her tenure as a teacher and administrator in K-12 public school districts in Maryland and Virginia began in 1996 and ended in 2021.
