Recent mass shootings in Buffalo, NY, and Uvalde, TX, occur on top of ongoing and daily shootings in Philadelphia, and create a range of feelings and reactions in all of us. In this conversation, we invite GSE and SP2 staff and faculty to share their reactions and concerns with a panel of expert counselors. We'll talk about strategies for identifying and managing our own emotions, and talking with children of different ages in developmentally appropriate ways. We'll also share resources and ideas for taking constructive action and building community to counter our sense of helplessness and isolation in the face of loss.

The information we use to effect change and help others comes from everyday employees asking everyday people questions that may not be easy to ask or answer. Thorough, in-person training is necessary for employees to be prepared to navigate questions about race, gender, ethnicity, and more in a respectful and engaging way. That’s why Tamekia MizLadi Smith came up with “I’m Graced” training, guiding employees through difficult conversations face-to-face.
