Penn GSE Dean Pam Grossman and Professor Shaun Harper have been selected by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) as AERA Fellows this year, making Penn the only university with more than one faculty member granted the prestigious research honor in 2017. AERA Fellows are nominated by their peers and selected in recognition of their substantial scholarly achievements and commitment to excellence in research. The announcement was made on February 21 by AERA.

Both Grossman and Harper have held leadership positions within AERA. Dean Grossman has served as both Vice-President of Division K (Teaching and Teacher Ed) and Member-at-Large, and has served on the Executive Committee of the AERA Council. Harper is currently Member-At-Large on the AERA Council.

This brings Penn GSE’s total to 13 AERA Fellows, representing more than half of the school’s full professors. Additionally, three emeritus Penn GSE faculty and one Wharton School faculty member with a secondary appointment at Penn GSE also have been honored as AERA Fellows.
