Film Screening: The Miseducation of Cameron Post

Join GSE for a film screening & discussion of the movie The Miseducation of Cameron Post on Apr. 17th, 6PM, in GSE room 322. GSE PhD Candidate in Reading, Writing, and Literacy, James Joshua Coleman, will be facilitating a reflection and discussion following the screening. Dinner will be served. 

The Miseducation of Cameron Post: "In 1993 after teenage Cameron is caught in the backseat of a car with the prom queen, she is sent away to a treatment centre in a remote area called God's Promise. While she is being subjected to questionable gay conversion therapies, she bonds with some fellow residents as they pretend to go along with the process while waiting to be released." James Joshua Coleman (Josh) is a Doctoral Candidate in the Reading/Writing/Literacy program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. His dissertation project, Restorying Painful Histories, considers the import of counter-storytelling for queer educators as well as advocates for the integration of affect studies into critical literacy scholarship. He additionally pursues research and academic criticism intended to address intersectional issues of representation in queer Young Adult literature. His general academic interests include critical literacy, affect studies, queer studies, and Children’s and Young Adult literature.
