We had about a week of spring break, and many of my GSE friends traveled around the U.S, such as LA, San Francisco, Orlando, and Chicago. I went to see the Niagara Falls in Buffalo and Boston for the first time!

① Niagara Falls / Buffalo

After flying out to Buffalo Niagara airport from Philly, my friend and I rented a car and drove to the Niagara Falls State Park. Although it was freezing cold (about 14°F!) with occasional snow and strong winds, the falls looked really beautiful with the snow in the background. You can also see the Canadian side right across the falls, and I highly recommend seeing the falls from there as well. We were planning to spend just one night in Buffalo. However, since our flight got canceled due to the heavy snowfall in Boston, we spent an extra day shopping at an outlet mall nearby and stayed at the Mansion on Delaware Avenue, which was listed as one of the Historic Hotels of America!

② Boston

There was a lot to see in Boston! There is a red brick line on the road that you can follow called the Freedom Trail and see all the historic sites of the city. Boston Commons (which is like a park) is another popular place that I would like to go back during the summer since everything was covered up in snow when I went. Boston has many schools such as Harvard and MIT, so it was very safe exploring the city on foot. The highlight of the stay in Boston was the dining experience at Union Oyster House, which is well known as one of the oldest restaurants in the US, established in 1826. We ate the popular oysters, a bowl of clam chowder and a giant lobster. Lobsters can be a little pricy, but it had a lot of meat in it. As a seafood lover myself, I highly recommend everyone to try it!

It was a great opportunity for me to take a break from all the assignments, get out and explore different cities, and refresh my mind for the rest of the spring semester!
